Grady - flu shot

  • Oct. 24th, 2008 at 12:53 PM

So G is going for his first ever flu shot today (he'll need a second shot in about a month).  I was talking to my mom about it and she told me to ask whether their shot has themerisol as an additive.  That's the additive that was in all the vaccinations, but was taken out after the whole autism thing came up.  However, there was never shown to actually be a link.  Now it is still in most flu shots but I guess there does exist a version without it.  There was something in Parents Magazine that said it was fine, but I honestly have not had time to do more research.  Any of you moms - has your child gotten a flu shot?  If so, did you opt for the one without Themerisol?   I just called G's ped. and they said theirs has trace amounts (something like it has it in it but then it is taken out, so there is just a trace?).  Just wanted to know how others felt on the matter.  Should I opt out and try to find a place that has it without or just not worry?
