birthday plans

So birthday planning is going well. I just ordered these balloons to use as centerpieces.  I'll have an orange cone as the base, then the balloons coming up through the hole in the top of the cone.  I'll do one mylar surrounded by either 3 or 5 solid colored balloons (orange, yellow, and maybe blue).  Then I want to do confetti sprinkled around the base.  Maybe photofetti if I can find a decent price.

I got the invites and all that stuff in the mail yesterday, and it looks fantastic - so unique and such a nice quality.  I love the idea that it was custom-made for G too.  I am thinking about having a rubber stamp made that looks like one of the trucks on the invite and favor stickers.  Then I could use them to stamp the napkins and other items.

I decided to go with solid colored paper goods - none of the construction-theme stuff was grabbing me - it all looked cheesy.  I will use yellow, orange, and blue as the main colors, and then have black as an accent (the balloon above matches the invites really well, so that will serve as my inspiration).  I was lucky to get orange Solo cups at Target - 40 for $2.99 - sooooo much cheaper than theme stuff.  You usually can't find too many colors, so I grabbed them up before Halloween is over.  I may put stickers on them to personalize.

I am thinking of how to do the tablecloths -maybe black and then do white dotted lines down the center to look like a road?  The guests will be at rectangular tables because Eric can get those free from work.  I prefer round, but I can make rectangle work in order to save $$.  We still need to rent chairs and will be borrowing kid-size picnic tables from several neighbors for the little kids.

So far for favor bags, I have the custom stickers.  I need to buy the bags.  For the goodies, I have the small cans of Play-Dough (2 per child - orange, yellow, and/or black).  I also have sippy cups with construction trucks and a Tonka truck for each kid.  I need some more, but I'm off to a good start.  Oh, and I need to get the Bob the Builder fruit chews (thanks MichelleRenee!).

OK - off to obsess some more ;)
