another travel idea...

  • Dec. 31st, 2008 at 2:02 PM

So I know I JUST mentioned possibly going to Bermuda for my couple trip with Eric this year, but it looks like we may go to Puerto Rico instead!  Last year we considered going there, instead of Turks and Caicos.  So maybe we will finally go.  Eric just realized that he has a LOT of Marriott points from travelling with work over the past few years.  Those can get you free nights at hotels.  Well San Juan has a gorgeous Marriott (we considered staying there last year, even if we didn't use points) and we could get 2 free nights (we could get a lot more at other Marriotts, but this place is top-notch)!  Eric had been very cautious about planning a nicer trip since the economy is so bad.  He will still probably get a good bonus, but he is just super careful about money.  But with 2 free nights we could do a 4 night trip and get out relatively cheap.  Our plan right now is to go for his birthday, which is the end of March.  I am so so so excited to be travel planning again!  If we decide on it I will definitely post some pictures.  The place is gorgeous!

And my really close family friends just moved to PR (they had a second home there that they moved to full time). It would be fun to visit with them too. I am getting excited now!

I don't think you could wrong with either option. A warm vacation in March sounds fabulous. We're in the same boat with regards to John's bonus this year. Counting on nothing but hoping for a decent amount :)

Yeah, you're right - a beachy trip is always a good thing! I am just thinking that I would love to go back to the rain forest and Old San Juan. I loved both of those when I went there as a child. It would be cool to do them with Eric.

Yeah, it's always a bit stressful when a large part of your income is wrapped up in a bonus structure! And this year is certainly more stressful than ever!
