Grady's Big Words

  • Nov. 11th, 2009 at 1:53 PM

Grady is a great talker and has been for quite some time.  He definitely has a large vocabulary and is always surprising us with the new words he will start using.  Lately there have been several words that have become part of his vocabulary that have surprised us.  These are words that he started using on his own (I am sure we have said them in front of him but we never really taught them to him or used them a lot).  And the most amazing part is how he uses them correctly in different contexts!

"commotion" used when all of his play cars are in a traffic jam - "there is a big commotion here!"

"designed" while driving down the road, he will ask "why does that car look different?  I guess it is just how the men designed it." (oh, and his other new thing is answering his own questions - haha!)

"privacy" usually used when on the toilet - he will ask for some privacy

"incredible" this may be his new favorite word - used the first time while in the tub.  The rubber chicken was doing something crazy, and he said "Mama pa-bock (what he likes to call chickens) that's incredible!"

As we get close to his third birthday, I am sure he will continue to make us laugh with all of his big words and ridiculous sayings.

He's just so verbal, it's crazy!

Party stuff is great, though we are down to the wire. I am so happy that the runners proved to be easier than I thought. They came out great! I can't use my sewing machine (STILL!) but I used "stitch witchery" for the first time, and that stuff is so easy and amazing! Now I am pulling together the centerpieces and just making final food plans. I also need to place the balloon order and make some garland stuff to strin gup in the "dining car" :)

I wonder if the words are in books you read him? Or any of the TV he watches. It amazes me some of the stuff Paty comes up with but every so often I figure out where she got it from and it is usually a book. The rest I blame on daycare LOL.
But those are awfully big words for a 3yo!

Grady sounds a lot like my Payton. She has a never ending supply of surprizing words. When she visited Santa last year (she was still 3) he asked her if she had been a good girl...so she taps her finger to her chin and says "I'm cautiously optimistic" Outta the mouths of babes!

I love their words now! Miles new favorite is "gratitude" (it's in the Jason Mraz song Live High). Miles and Grady have always had amazing speech. Miles was recently evaluated by our parents as teachers educator and as of about 2 months ago he's learning at a 4 year olds level and I'd venture to guess Grady is too. I'm not sure where Miles got his smarts ;) lol.

Yeah, I always remember that Miles has had great speech too. It is really fun when they can communicate so well, isn't it? It just makes your relationship with them that much richer, I think.
